Mkalihashiki

Writing, reading, and consulting from the body outward.

I'm Mkalihashiki — an author, sensitivity reader, and embodied-wellness consultant working with publishers, editorial teams, and organizations who want their words and workplaces to hold real people with more care.

About

My work moves between the page and the room. As a writer and co-editor, I bring lived, embodied perspective to projects that ask honest questions about identity, aging, and the body — most recently as co-editor of an anthology on menopause, currently in review with a publisher.

As a sensitivity reader, I help authors and editorial teams represent experience — Black, queer, somatic, and otherwise underrepresented — with accuracy and respect, catching what a well-meaning draft can miss. As a wellness consultant, I bring the same grounded, somatic attention into corporate spaces: helping teams and leaders build workplaces where people can actually inhabit their bodies, not just perform productivity in them.

Where I work

Authorship

Long-form writing and editorial collaboration, with a focus on identity, embodiment, and the stories bodies carry that don't always make it to the page.

Co-editor, forthcoming anthology on menopause (in publisher review)

Sensitivity Reading

Manuscript review for authors, agents, and editorial teams — checking representation, language, and cultural specificity before a book reaches readers, with particular depth in Black experience, queerness, and somatic or embodied narrative.

Corporate Wellness

Workshops and consulting for organizations that want to move past wellness-as-checkbox — grounded, somatic practices adapted for the workplace, built around breath, presence, and sustainable pace rather than performative self-care.

Let's talk about the work.
